Inertia

The beauty of looking at nothing.

Sustainable Velocity. Eyes on the prize.
'Busy' as the measure of your net worth,
a full calendar the exhausting currency of social standing.
Someone flicked a switch and you're guilt-tripped into squeezing the life out of every second.
Anything less and you're an unproductive bum, an antisocial sloth, a lazy anachronism.
I can sit and look out the window for hours,
and watch the trees tell no stories.
I can go to sleep at 7pm on the couch, or be still, locked in silent ping pong with my thoughts.
If you look long enough, a white wall holds all the mysteries of the world.
Inertia as freedom? Perish the thought.
Some will say I am broke.
I say go, race ahead, chase the chase.
I won't get in your way. I'll take my time.
Because the finish line
is the same for all of us.
